There is nothing more devastating than to find that someone who you trusted and confided with has betrayed you. To have that feeling of trust broken, no words can explain how it feels. Having experiences that you shared, being dismissed like yesterday's news. Having your feelings tossed aside as being unimportant and irrelevant.
God says when you are being attacked, look to Him and He will be your help.
Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. Let evil recoil on those who slander me; in your faithfulness destroy them. Psalms 54, v.4-5, NIV
As a believer, I have to consistently remind myself that I can't be waiting for harship to pass before the next great thing happens in my life. Life is NOW, no matter what you are going through.
Adversaties will come my way, but God had promised me that not only will I go through them, I will get through them. AMEN!
When parents disappoint us, it's easy to blame ourselves, even when we are not at fault. Ending a relationship with your parents is not easy, but, if after doing the Godly thing and attempts to repair the relationship fails, the best thing to do is move on.
My father and mother may abandon me, but the Lord will take care of me. Psalms 27, v.10, TEV
When going through hardship, it's easy to see yourself as defeated. Claim a spirit of victory and declare yourself victorious in the name of the Lord.
Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Psalms 105, v.1-2, NIV
It's easy to say I trust in the Lord. However, how many times have we worried, been angry and even tried to do things on our own, because our 'trust' wasn't strong enough?
Give yourself to the Lord; trust in him, and he will help you; he will make your righteousness shine like the noonday son. Be patient and wait for the Lord to act; don't be worried about those who prosper or those who succeed in their evil plans. Don't give in to worry or anger; it only leads to trouble. Those who trust in the Lord will possess the land, but the wicked will be driven out. Psalms 37, v.5-9.
Having a partner who prays and will pray with you, makes all the difference when you are going through life's trials. Someone who can lift your spirits up and remind you that all will be well. That's a gift from God.
There are many times I get frustrated at how slow God's work is. Although I know he is working, I'm so anxious to see the end result, I forget that there is a lesson that needs to be learned during whatever it is we are going through. It is at these times, I turn to James, who reminds us to be patient.
You also must be patient. Keep your hopes high, for the day of the Lord's coming is near. James 5, v8, TEV
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied:
"My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
I go through life and day by day, I am reminded that God is at work.
The devil doesn't sleep but neither does my God.
God says, "I will save those who love me and will protect those who acknowledge me as Lord. When they call to me, I will answer them; when they are in trouble, I will be with them. I will rescue them and honour them. I will reward them with long life. I will save them."Psalm 91 v.14-16 TEV
Every morning when I wake up, I thank God for another day then I go about my day. At night, before I go to bed, I go for my evening walk with God. I pray about my problems and concerns and I thank him for all that I have. Doing this gives me a sense of peace and I sleep better. He guides me in the right paths, as He has promised. Even if I go through the deepest darkness, I will not be afraid Lord, for you are with me. Psalms 23, v.3-4, TEV
